Volunteer Work
Knot Waste
Knot Waste started as a creative health hobby and as a means to help reduce clothes waste by upcycling my old clothes to sell on ETSY.
Now the KnotWasteShop on ETSY creates modern eco-conscious embroidery inspired by city life, with 10% from the sale of each product being donated to the RSPCA via www.justgiving.com/page/knot-waste-rspca-fundraiser.
With this site www.knot-waste.com we explore creative ways to reconnect with nature in urban spaces; here you can also experience embroidery as Nature Connection by downloading a free nature-inspired embroidery pattern. Learn simple stitches to relax, reconnect with nature, and start embroidery as a mindful hobby. Our free download helps you to decide whether embroidery is the right nature craft for you, before purchasing anything from the KnotWasteShop on ETSY and donating to the RSPCA.
We also share our own iPhone photography documenting the mess ‘we’ are making with litter and what we’re doing to counteract it.

St Roccos - Sorting Centre
St Roccos Hospice is a charity specialising in end of life care. Their services are free of charge and so they rely upon donations and fundraising.
I volunteered at their sorting centre helping, where I sorted a wide range of donated items including clothing and homeware. Allocated items to relevant shops and eBay based on relevance and value. I also assisted with the general moving of stock around the sorting centre, and helped to save items from landfill by sending them to a textile waste recycler.

Tech Manchester - Mentorship Programme
Tech Manchester provides specialised early-stage support for tech-focused startups, offering mentoring, PR, communication resources, and work spaces to foster growth.
I took part in their mentorship programme, to gain skills and guidance to help develop my freelance business. This also led to developing a newsletter for Green and Social Entrepreneurs: ‘Creative Inspo Trips’ to improve your career, wellbeing, or world around you.
